One week ahead

It is Saturday morning and we are late to go to a Birthday Party. It is my son's school friend 5th Birthday. The party is at the Family Center and I have been told that there would be people from outside school at this party.

As my son and I walk in, he hurries to find his friend and I look at these strange faces thinking that these must be the people "outside school".

Quickly we both realized that we must be at the wrong place, as what I think is the father of the birthday child looks at me wondering who the hell is this crazy woman and prompt me to ask who's birthday party it is.

Embarrassed, I quickly said I must be at the wrong center or wrong time and walked out with a confused son.

When I called home to ask my husband to take a look at the invitation I learned that the party is not until the following weekend...

Take that lipstick off

When I was young, one of my favorite things to do was to put lipstick on. What little girl has never done it?

The thing is, I used to eat the lipsticks. I have this strange smell perception and of course, if smell good, must taste good. Back in the 80's a cool lipstick was a lipstick that smelt like strawberries or cherry... My poor mama and maid, were always left with no lipstick.

Growing up wearing glasses and having big lips did not make one of most popular girls in school, so the last thing I wanted was to put a red lipstick on. Today I look back and wonder where in the world was Angelina Jolie when I was 13!?

Nowadays I hardly wear a lipstick. I often wear a chapstick; I often laugh of the idea of knowing that there are women out there that pay big bucks to have lips like mine and I very rarely will wear a red lipstick. What type of woman have I become? What am I to teach my daughter about the cause/effect of a rich color on a beautiful lips...

My guess is that we will have to experience the lipstick journey together. The "sad" thing is, she has thin lips, and thin is not the in the thing for now...
